Preparation – consultation and diagnostics

During the first visit, the doctor assesses the patient’s oral health and their expectations regarding the restoration of lost teeth.

After conducting all necessary diagnostic tests, during treatment planning, the doctor presents the patient with all available information about the possible methods, outlining the advantages and disadvantages of each. The patient must also be aware of their shared responsibility for maintaining the implant. Without mutual cooperation and understanding, long-term implant retention is impossible.

Proper course of treatment. Surgical procedure

Implant placement is performed under local anesthesia. If necessary, the procedure can also be performed under sedoanalgesia* under the watchful eye of an anesthesiology team (this is especially recommended for extensive procedures and for patients with a fear of the dentist). Furthermore, the procedure is performed in completely sterile conditions using highly specialized, modern equipment.

The discomforts that sometimes occur after the procedure are usually no more severe than those following tooth extraction, and commonly available pharmacological agents are sufficient to eliminate them.

The integration period (the period of the implant merging with the bone) typically lasts 3-6 months and depends on the implant site and the type of implant. Regenerative procedures that prepare the implant site, such as sinus lifts or bone reconstruction, extend the healing period.

While the implants are healing, we provide the patient with a temporary restoration. This allows for proper functioning until the final prosthetic restoration is completed.

Final prosthetic restoration

This stage of implant-prosthetic treatment is performed after the implant has integrated with the bone. To achieve optimal aesthetic results, temporary crowns and bridges are often placed before the final prosthetic work is completed to properly shape the gums around the implants. This solution is particularly useful in the anterior region, where aesthetics are key to successful treatment.

After completing the prosthetic restoration stage, the patient can fully enjoy their new teeth, which are functionally and aesthetically identical to their natural teeth. A properly designed crown, bridge, or implant-supported denture ensures comfort during eating, speaking, and daily activities.

Follow-up and post-treatment care

Implant treatment doesn’t end with the placement of the final restoration. Regular inspection of the implants and surrounding tissues is crucial. Follow-up visits allow for early detection of any irregularities and long-term maintenance of treatment results.

The patient also receives detailed oral hygiene recommendations. Daily implant care should include thorough brushing, flossing or irrigating, and interdental care. Regular dental hygiene visits remove deposits and bacteria that can lead to inflammation.

Implant treatment time

The duration of the entire process depends on the individual patient’s situation. In simple cases, treatment can be significantly shortened. However, in more advanced situations requiring bone reconstruction or additional procedures, the process may be longer. Careful planning of each stage and adherence to the doctor’s recommendations are crucial.

Possible temporary solutions

While the implants are healing, aesthetic and functional temporary restorations are used. This allows the patient to continue with their normal life, work, or social activities. These temporary solutions allow for the preservation of the smile’s aesthetics and comfort until the final restoration is completed.
