Lingual braces are a groundbreaking, highly innovative development in orthodontic treatment. Clear aligner

This invisible orthodontic appliance, in the form of clear aligners, is worn for a minimum of 20 hours a day. It is suitable for correcting many malocclusions and is an alternative to fixed orthodontic appliances.

Qualification:

Similar to other traditional orthodontic appliances, qualification for treatment is based on a specialist consultation: a patient examination and analysis of medical records (panoramic and cephalometric X-rays, plaster models of teeth, and extraoral X-rays). Based on this, a treatment plan, its duration, and costs are determined.

Treatment:

Clear aligner treatment is performed in three-weekly sessions. Based on impressions, a set-up (setting the teeth in the new, expected position) and a set of three aligners are made in a certified orthodontic laboratory. The patient wears them for the next three weeks. Then, after this period, we repeat the patient’s teeth impressions and create a new set of aligners – with a new, increasingly perfect tooth alignment. Depending on the severity of the malocclusion, 3 to even more than 20 sets of Clear aligners are necessary. Treatment time ranges from six months to two years. The final aligners also serve as retainers and are worn throughout the retention period, i.e., maintaining the treatment results.

Orthodontic microimplants

Orthodontic microimplants are miniature metal orthodontic implants that are placed in the bone for the duration of orthodontic treatment.

The use of these tiny implants opens up entirely new possibilities in 21st-century orthodontics. Their purpose is to support orthodontic treatment by enabling the movement of entire tooth groups using implants, rather than natural teeth, as a support point. Microimplants serve as an additional anchoring element for fixed appliances. This allows for the simultaneous application of several forces, even in different directions, thus shortening the planned treatment time by up to one-third and minimizing the period of wearing full orthodontic appliances (and in some cases even eliminating them). Before the era of microimplants, orthodontists were often forced to use aesthetically unattractive and uncomfortable extraoral appliances to support orthodontic treatment.

Currently, the use of orthodontic implants ensures maximum comfort and excellent aesthetic results. The use of microimplants often avoids the removal of permanent teeth, enables uprighting, i.e., straightening of tilted teeth before prosthetic or implant restoration, enabling effective treatment even in difficult cases, and the preservation of teeth that were previously considered obstacles to dental restorations. In some cases, it allows for minor corrections without the need for fixed braces on all teeth. The microimplant procedure is completely painless and performed under local anesthesia. After orthodontic treatment is completed, the microimplants are removed, and the area after their removal heals quickly, leaving no trace. Unfortunately, this method is not widely used in Poland due to the need to have an experienced orthodontist and dental surgeon on the team, as is the case at Dr Łyszczarz Clinic.

Pre-prosthetic orthodontic treatment

It involves repositioning teeth that have been displaced following the loss of adjacent teeth, allowing for comfortable and aesthetically pleasing prosthetic restorations. It often allows for the fabrication of fixed (bridges) restorations instead of removable (dentures). Even in the absence of a concomitant malocclusion, it is necessary, among other things, to realign natural teeth that have lost their proper positions due to the loss of other teeth, have shifted into the gaps left by the missing teeth, creating gaps elsewhere, have moved vertically up or down because of the missing antagonist tooth, or have often become loose as a result. Orthodontic treatment is often also performed before implant placement and involves creating the best possible conditions for the placement of dental implants.
